Abstract
Regional economic growth is a process of increasing regional income per capita in the long run. The theory of economic growth states that the main factor that determines the economic growth of a region is the demand for goods and services, so that local resources have the potential to generate regional income while creating employment opportunities in the region. Kendal Regency as an industrial area has potential and resources that are different from other regions that must be developed. This study aims to analyze leading sectors and determine employment in Kendal Regency. The analysis tools used are Shift share, Klassen Typology, Location Quotient, MRP, Overlay, and RTK. The study was conducted with seventeen major sectors of the economy of Kendal Regency with the GDP of Kendal Regency and Central Java Province in 2013-2017. The results showed that the leading sectors in Kendal Regency were the Manufacturing Industry Sector, Water Supply Sector, Waste Management, Waste and Recycling, and Accommodation and Food Supply and Drink Supply Sector. But the sectors that are able to absorb a lot of labor are the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors and the manufacturing industry sector.
