Abstract
In the last few decades, the needs of land spacing are increasing in line with the increase of human population which in turn will result in habitat destruction, fragmantation, the replacement of native species with innative one, and many more which eventually can become a threat to human life. This paper will study the extent of tropical forest degradation and consevation, as well as the kind of community involvement needed to support the success of conservation of the tropics. Today, most of the tropical forest has changed from dense forest into monoculture forest. According to conservation experts, this can act as a threat to the tropical forest biodiversity. In regards to the conservation efforts, it is necessary to invite all parties involved including policy makers, experts in conservation and the community. Ecosystem and tropical forests diversity have long been declining due to the loss of ecological function resulted from the utilization by humans to meet their needs. Therefore it is imperative that tropical forest management is well structured to ensure the involvement of all stakeholders ranging from policy makers to conservation ecologists. More importantly, it is also important to ensure community participation through education as well as religious and cultural approaches. Research indicates that conservation with community participation approach has been conducted successfully in many areas, using either religious or culture approach, depending on which approach is more dominant in the regions used for conservation areas. Community participation shovid include planning, implementation, policy making, as well as law enforcement.
