Abstract

The information about the properties an electric and optic material is needed and requ ired to know the usage of specific purposes. One of the applicable methods to obtain such informatio n by observing the behavior of polariton in a mate "ial. Dielectric material of ferroelectrics with nigh dielectric constant gives opportunity to be appliefi at signal processor at a very high frequency so wat study about polariton of this ferroelectrics material need to be done. In this study, a theoretical stuay is conducted by analytically reducing dispersion relationship between wave vector and frequency applied to a material. The solution is obtained numerically through computational process to produce a dispersion relationship graph. Bisection method is applied to analyse and solve surface polariton mode at the dispersion relationship. A theoretical study of the polariton dispersion curves on the surface of the ferroelectric material Bi4Tip12 (BTO) has also been done. The direction of wave propagation is perpendicular to the easy axis without any external field. This study gives a theoretical description of the (BTO) surface and bulk modes at frequency range of 0- 100cm'1. The dispersion relation is obtained through Maxwell equation. Substitution of ff field and E field into the wave differential equation and application of boundary conditions will produce the dispersion relations. The internal dynamics or system parameters are included in the material permtivity. From the research, it was obtained that the surface polariton only propagate in the TM. (Transverse Magnetic) mode and they are reciprocal, in which the change of wave vector directiqnjloes not Change tfa 'frequency. Mathematically, the result can be written as or cow )= ft>(- q )• However, in TE (Transverse Electric) mock, there is no propagation of surface mode and only the bulk polariton was found.
