Abstract

Umat Islam semakin yakin bahwa model pendidikan Islam ideal adalah yang mampu mengasah kecerdasan pikiran sekaligus kesalehan spiritual. Yang mampu menguasai ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi modern plus ilmu agama Islam yang memadai. Pada tingkat elementer pekerjaan itu bisa dilakukan oleh Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), namunpada kenyataanya MI belum mampu mengemban tugas tenebut sehingga umat kemudian melirik SD Islam elit. Kepeloporan/keunggulan MI bisa muncul kembali bila dipupuk dengan tenaga pendidik professional kompeten, penguatanjejaring madrasah, dan optimalisasi yayasan atau organisasi keagamaan yang menjadi payung MI.
