Abstract

Crab eating frog (R. cancrivora) is an abundance species in Indonesia. It is believed that indigenous bacteria isolated from R. cancrivora have antifungal substances. Hence, those can be used as biofungicide agents. The purpose of this research was to investigate the capabilities of bacteria isolated from skin mucous to inhibited pathogenic fungi of Colletotrichum acutatum NC32. The antifungal activity was determined by modified dual culture and paper disc methods. The best strain that showed the highest antifungal activity were then characterized and identified based on its phenotypic properties. The identification was conducted by profile matching method. The result shows that two selected strains among eight showed the ability to inhibit the growth of C.acutatum namely isolate KSB 9 and KSB 11. Based on the profile matching analysis, those strain were identified as the member of genus Bacillus. Keyword: Biofungicide, crab eating frog (R. cancrivora), identification, indigenous bacteria, selection.
