Abstract

This paper describes the activities of The Community Development and Pesantren Bureau (BPPM) of The Pesantren Maslakul Huda (PMH) in developing society. The BPPM PMH was established in 1980 and it was considered as a "The Pesantren NGO" whose programs are dominated by income regenerating program for developing rural society and it still receives a positive welcome from society. BPPM PMH uses development from within approach or empowerment at the grassroots approach and bets on the strong strategy (the action is like total football and it performs programs) to make people help themselves. The types of programs of developing society which was implemented by BPPM PMH include sanitation, information of education and communication, promoted the the small-scale industry through a variety of skill training, workshop and entrepreneurship development, funding program for informal sectors and woman program and other developments programs. The social development program performed by BPPM PMH produces a positive effect on the target group life especially in participating their physiological, mental, cultural, social and economic life.
