Abstract

Rapid developments in various aspects of human life such as science, technology, art, and so forth have brought positive impacts for human life changes and progress in one hand. In other hand, however, they also results in human backwardness and marginality from their own life progress. Many people do not have access to the life progress since they are not ready in some aspects such as mentality, attitude and skills. Such reality leads people to develop their selves if they are to have deep insight, mentality for development, positive attitudes, and adequate skills. Community development is a process or action conducted to enhance human dignity and human resources quality. Andragogy approach in community development offers the necessity of learning approach to enhance people's insight, attitudes and skills. The activity is performed by: firstly, using assumption about changes that: (a) Only people them selves can change their selves, (b) People's consciousness of needs and positive self-concept is a potential or milestone for their development, (c) Community development is a gladden activity. Secondly, adult learning principle: (a) Developer-community relationship as an accompanying development, (b) Using community's potentials and experience in the content and the whole development processes, (c) The methods applied are appropriate with the purposes to be achieved, (d) Centered on the community's crucial problems, (e) Involving community's active participation in the activity.
