Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of Islamic Work Ethics and Affective Commitment. This research was conducted at a state university in Yogyakarta, with some 103 research subjects. The subjects were the employees who work at the university with the characteristics of subjects aged 34- 60 years and have a service life of 2-10 years. The data was collected using a questionnaire, Islamic Work Ethic scale based on the theory of Ali J. Abbas and Affective Commitment scale based on the theory of Allen and Meyer. The data obtained were then analyzed using product moment correlation method. The results of this study indicate that there is a positive relationship between Islamic Work Ethics Affective commitment to the value of rxy = 0.459, p < 0.05 . These results indicate that this hypothesis can be accepted, is there is positive between Islamic Work Ethics and Affective Commitment, which means the higher the Islamic Work Ethics that employees have, the higher the Affective Commitment owned by an employee. The research showed that effective quantity given by Islamic Work Ethics to the Affective Commitment of administration affairs in Islamic State University of Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is 21,1%, in R squared mark it with 0,211. In the other words, there are still any 78,9% of another factors to affective commitment, whether it is intrinsic or extrinsic as well.
