Abstract

The development of a country is the most important thing for the welfare of society. One of the things that is the development benchmark is the reduction of poverty rate. Poverty is a complex problem which is related with many kind of aspects like the rights for food, health, education, job, etc. To decrease the poverty needs support and collaboration of society and the government’s serious efforts. The purpose of this study is to know how the effect of Economic Development (Expenditure per capita) and Social Development (Health, Education, Unemployment, and Social Infrastructure) on the rate of poverty in the District/City of Central Java Province. Methods of analysis used is the Data Panel with the help of Microsoft Excel 2010 software and E-views 8. The secondary data used are time series data from the period 2011 to 2015 and cross section data that is on the 35 District/City in Central Java. The independent variables consist of Expenditure per capita, Health, Education, Unemployment, and Social Infrastructure, while the dependent variable is Poverty Rate. The results showed that the variables of Expenditure per capita, Health, and Educationnegatively and significantly influence the rate of poverty in Central Java, unemployment positively and significantly influence the rate of poverty in Central Java. While Social Infrastructure negatively and not significantly influence the rate of poverty in Central Java. The value R in this research is 0.744194. This shows that the poverty rate of 74.4194 percent in the District/City in Central Java province is affected by the independent variable and the remaining varibel 25.5806 in influence variables outside of the model.
