Abstract

This thesis entitled "The Influence of Librarian Competency on Quality of Service at Yogyakarta State University Library". Library of Higher Education (University) is a library that served as a unit of technical implementation, to provide services to the academic community and the surrounding user community that is relevant to the Tri Dharma University program. To reach it’s success, the University Library needs quality service and competent human resources (librarian). The purpose of this study are: (1) to know the level of the Librarians Competency at Yogyakarta State University Library; (2) to find out the level of the Quality of Services at Yogyakarta State University Library; (3) to know the influence of Librarian Competency on Library Service Quality at Yogyakarta State University Library. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were active users ie students and lecturers enrolled in the Yogyakarta State University Library, which are 8080 people, and the number of samples studied was 381 people with the assumption of percentage of error was 5%. Variables in this research are Librarian Competency as Independent Variable (X) and Quality of Service as dependent variable (Y). Researcher used questionnaire with likert scale to collect the data. Validity and Reliability test was done to do instrument test. Descriptive analysis method and simple regression analysis were used in Data Analysis. The results of the research are: (1) The Competency of librarians in the library of Yogyakarta State University is in good category with the final average value 3.50; (2) Quality of Service in Yogyakarta State University Library is in good category with the final average value 3.56; (3) There is a positive influence between Librarian Competency and Quality of Service in Yogyakarta State University Library, with correlation coefficient value 0.514. This study provides a clear result of the conditions in the field about the influence of librarian competency on the quality of service in the library of Yogyakarta State University, so that it can be used as consideration for the library to improve the quality of the library of Yogyakarta State University.
