Abstract

This research is entitled "Implementation of Public Library Functions" Mr. Besar Martokoesoemo "Tegal City is reviewed from Law Number 43 of 2007. As well as having the formulation of the problem How is the Implementation of the Functions of Tegal City Public Library reviewed from Law Number 43 Year 2007 ?. The aim of this researcher is to find out how much the public library functions "Mr. Besar Martokoesoemo "Tegal City for the community, in addition to understanding what the function of the library is in terms of Law number 43 of 2007 which is a vehicle for education, research, preservation, information, and recreation to improve the intelligence and empowerment of the nation. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research using data collection methods using interview techniques, observation, and documentation as well as data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions and data verification. Validity testing is carried out by an extension of observation, triangulation, and member checks. As well as the results of the study are 1) Educational functions that refer to the reading interest of the people of Tegal City. The library has implemented the function of education by carrying out various activities inside and outside the library. 2) The function of this research is already running in the Public Library of Tegal City. The library has implemented this function by opening up to accept researchers and by providing collections needed by researchers, especially in the reference section. 3) the function of preserving this function by carrying out books or folklore activities and preservation of library materials properly using camphor. 4) information function by using a promotion system that is carried out with activities and disseminating letters to the public and can help the user in finding the information needed. 5) recreation function, namely by using existing services and collections provided in the Library. Based on the results described, it can be seen that the public library "Mr. Besar Martokoesoemo "has implemented library functions already running but also the library needs to conduct an evaluation of the functions of the library.
