Abstract

This research is motivated by the interest of researchers regarding the relationship between Middle Eastern education and studies, researchers chose to discuss Salafi education. In general, Salafi education is seen as rigid and closed but has quite a number of students who study from various regions. This research focused on the expansion of Salafi education in Indonesia, especially in the ICBB Yogyakarta boarding school. There are two sub-focus in this study, namely: how to expand Salafi education, and the community response to the Yogyakarta ICCB boarding school. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research that also uses the library research method that is literature study. This study uses the theory of resource mobilization which is used to analyze the expansion of Salafi education in Indonesia. Salafis enter Indonesia with different cultural backgrounds and educational systems but it is able to build a network that works in Indonesia. The subjects of this study were the people around the ICBB boarding school environment, namely the head of RT 07 Karanggayam, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and the community around the ICBB Yogyakarta boarding school. The results of this study show that (1) The way of Salafi expansion is by forming a network in the form of organizations and then developing into an educational institution that gets the full support and legitimacy of the country of Saudi Arabia. (2) The response of the community around the ICBB boarding school is low acceptance to join, although there are differences in survival continues to run harmoniously, the friction is minimized so that daily activities run smoothly.
