Abstract

This thesis discusses the effect of public service communication by liaison librarian on the satisfaction of library visitors at the Brawijaya University Library. The purpose study are, (1) to determine the public service communication conducted by the liaison librarian of Brawijaya University Library, (2) to determine the satisfaction of the visitors, and (3) to determine the effect of public service communication carried out by liaison librarian of the Brawijaya University Library on the satisfaction of library visitors. This study uses quantitative research methods. Data analysis techniques use the mean and simple linear regression analysis. The sample of this study was 100 respondents who were visitors in the reading room of the faculties in Brawijaya University. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and documentation. The results of the study are, (1) descriptive analysis shows that public service communication by liaison librarians are in the high category with grand mean 2.878 (2) descriptive analysis shows that the library visitors satisfaction is in a high category with grand mean 2.810, (3) public service communication by liaison librarian influences the library visitors satisfaction with a regression equation Y = 4,440 + 0,344X. These results indicate that if there is an increase in the value of the public service communication variable by one unit, there will be an increase in the value of the library visitors satisfaction variable by 0.344 with a cost of 4,440. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,484 indicates that public servicecommunication by liaison librarian has an influence of 48,4% on the satisfaction of the library visitors. The suggestions based on the results of this study, namely the liaison librarians, are expected to be more active in providing information and information about the Brawijaya University Library, so the roles and functions of liaison librarians can be maximized well. Brawijaya University Library can provide supplies to liaison librarian based on the activities and information of the latest library collections, thus information can be passed on to the visitors. In addition, Brawijaya University Library is also expected to provide briefing on the provision of services and good communication thereforeit does not disappoint users.
