Abstract

Research aims to understand the scientific literacy skills of undergraduate students of physics education programs in UIN Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The instruments used in this research is Scientific Literacy Assesment (SLA) developed by Fives et.al (2014). The method used was a quantitative descriptive includes 227 physics education college students in Sunan Kalijaga year of 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. The technique for collecting data on this study is test and non test. Test techniques using Scientific Literacy Assessment-Demonstrated (SLA-D) instrument with 18 mutiple choice questions for measure cognitive domain. The data analysis technique SLA-D is done by calculating the percentage of the correct answer for physics education college students on each of the components. Non test techniques using Scientific Literacy Assessment-Motivation and Beliefs (SLA-MB) questionnaire with 25 scale affective for measure affactive domain and interview. The data analysis techniques SLA-MB using a likert scale with a numerical score of 1 2 3 4 and 5. The result of this research on the cognitive domain, Scientific Literacy Assessment-Demonstrated (SLA-D) suggests that the average achievements of the physics education student collage literacy skills falls at medium category with scores 44%. Science literacy ability of physics education collage student in role of science gets a score 56% in medium categoy, scientific thinking and doing component gets a score 27% in low category, the science and society component gets a score 48% in medium category, the mathematics in science component gets 46% in medium category. Science literacy ability of collage students in the affective domain motivation and beliefs get average scores 72% in the high category.
