Abstract

Survival analysis is a statistical method that is commonly used to analyze data where the variable is the time until an event occurs or it can be called the survival time. The survival time is not fully observed but it can still be processed with non-sticky data so that special processing techniques are needed. In the Kaplan Meier method, the estimated survival time is depicted by a curve. Then the Log-Rank Test is carried out to find out whether there are differences between the curves. From the publication of the Central Statistics Agency in 2017 regarding the portrait of Indonesian education, Central Java Province is in the first rank of the dropout rate in western Indonesia, even higher than the national average score. Another problem, namely the low interest in schools and the lack of equal distribution of supporting facilities between rural and urban areas is one of the causes of the high dropout rate.Based on the results of the analysis and discussion of the Characteristics of the Out-of-School Population in Rural and Urban Areas aged 6-18 years in Central Java Province in 2017, in general, urban areas have a higher probability of resilience to school than rural areas. The Log Rank test shows that for urban areas there are six independent variables that have a significant effect, namely: gender, education of the head of the household, the field of business of the head of the household, assistance from the Smart Indonesia Program, the status of parents and the sex of the head of the household. Meanwhile, for rural areas there are two independent variables that have a significant effect, namely: the education of the head of the household and assistance from the Smart Indonesia Program.
