Abstract

This research is motivated by the results of the design and construction of the EEG prototype as a detector of brain signal activity. The design that has been made previously is the single electrode EEG system based on the Arduino Uno. This study aims to characterize the system that has been created in recording brain signals. In addition, this study also aims to determine the system performance compared to Emotiv Epoc as a standard tool. This research was conducted in 2 stages, namely testing the system and validating the system. The first stage is system characterization, namely precision, accuracy and SNR. The second stage is to validate the system with Emotiv Epoc as the standard EEG, with validation parameters, namely pattern compatibility, amplitude and power spectral. The results of precision characterization for open and closed eyes were 99.35% and 99.34%, respectively, for an accuracy of 99.72% and 99%, respectively, for SNR electrodes attached and not attached to the system were 3.70 and Emotiv. Epoc 31.86. The results of system validation have been able to display patterns, the amplitude generated by the system is very high compared to standard EEG and the power spectral has been successful in the alpha frequency range in test subject 1, the eye is closed in test subject 2 and test subject 3, and spectral power shows in the frequency range tetha, namely the condition of the eyes closed in test subject 2 and test subject 3.
