Abstract

This research is a type of descriptive quantitative research. The aim is to find out student’s perceptions about the interior design of the library in the MAN 3 Sleman. The subjects of this study were students of MAN 3 Sleman. The object is the student's perception of interior design which includes space, coloring, lighting, air circulation and sound acoustics in the MAN 3 Sleman Library. This study took a population of 89 students as respondents taken from the number of MAN 3 Sleman students in 2020/2021 school year, there are 806 students. Data collection methods used in this study include questionnaires, documentation, interviews and observations. The data analysis used was the mean and grand mean formula. From the results of data analysis, it is obtained that the average value of the sub-variable space is 3, 07 which is in the good category. The lighting sub variable obtained an average value of 2, 71 which was included in the good category. The coloring sub-variable obtained an average value of 3, 41 which was included in the very good category. Air circulation sub-variable obtained an average value of 2, 86 which is included in the good category. At the end of the sub-variable acoustic sound obtained an average value of 2, 58 which is in the good category. Thus, the total average value of the interior design variables is 2, 92. So, it can be seen that students' perceptions of the interior design of the reading room of the Library of MAN 3 Sleman are categorized as good. From the research results, there are several things that need to be considered by the Library of MAN 3 Sleman to maximize the function of the library, some of which are the use of lights according to space requirements and the design of walls or floors that can minimize the incidence of noise.
