Abstract

The scientific paper of this thesis is entitled Islamic Education at the Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding School 1948-1975 M (Studi Development and Impact). The Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding School is an Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency, East Java, its presence has an important meaning in the progress and development of Islamic education in East Java in particular and Indonesia in general during the 20th century, including pre-independence and post-independence, so that its contribution to the development of Islamic education was felt by the people of Indonesia, therefore the development of Islamic education at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School is interesting to study. The focus of the problems discussed in this study is the development of Islamic education in the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in 1948-1975 M with a focus on problem formulations. First, what were the stages of the development of Islamic education at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang in 1948-1975 M. Second, why was the development of Islamic education at the Tebuireng Jombang Islamic Boarding School in 1948-1975 M. Third, what was the impact of the development of Islamic education at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in 1948-1975 M In following the formulation of this problem, the author uses the theory of cultural evolution (multilinier) developed by Julian Steward, and also the theory of social change developed by Max Weber, who then followed by a sociological approach, and guided using historical methods which include Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation, and Historiography. The results of this study indicate that, the development of Islamic education at Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang in the period 1948-1950 M had a classical (traditional) model, while the 1950-1952 M period was transitional, then the semi-modern 1953-1965 M period, and the 1965-1975 M period. modern. The development of Islamic education at Pesantren Tebuireng Jombang has been driven by several factors, namely. kiai, demands from the world of work, politics, the Ndalem family, religion and science. The development of Islamic education at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang has positive and negative impacts on the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, especially for the Ndalem family, and also has a negative impact on the community around the Islamic Boarding School including the education and economy sectors, while the religious sector has a positive impact.
