Abstract

We have made clear to you the message that marriage is a means of unmarring the relationship between men and women. The implementation of marriage will gain validity when it meets the requirements and the pillars as described in the Islamic shari'a. These terms and pillars become important because they are the main pillars of marriage according to Islam. However, for some Indonesians, especially the Javanese people do not make these terms and pillars to be the only thing that must be met, but there are other provisions that participate in the procession of couple selection as happened to the kasreman community of Kasreman District Ngawi Regency. Weton's calculation tradition is a tradition that must be done first when there are male and female couples who want to carry out the marriage. In this modern era, weton calculation tradition that emerged since the ancestors are still very thick and maintained kelestariaannya and does not signify a decline in practice, especially in the community kasreman village. Thus, this research will examine the adherence of kasreman village community to Weton calculation and how the social dynamics in kasreman village community so that it is known why this tradition still survives until now. In this research, the type of research used is field research using legal anthropology approach. While the analysis method used is descriptive analytics that is exposing the data obtained in the field as is. And in data collection, researchers use methods in the form of interviews, observations and documentation. This research resulted in the conclusion that (1) kasreman village people in the traditional practice of Weton calculation is a form of their loyalty to the ancestral tradition that has become the rules and norms in their social life. If analyzed using the theory offered by H.C. Kelman and L. Pospisil, then Weton's calculation practice can be said as a form of community obedience to a law (Weton calculation) because it has fulfilled two of the three categories offered, namely obedience is Identification and Internalization. The second conclusion is very much related to the sense of loyalty at the first conclusion. The sense of loyalty of the people of Kasreman Village is based on certain motives and objectives, because basically the orientation of loyalty is the creation of something desired. If analyzed using the theory of Social Action by Max Weber, it will be obtained that the people of Kasreman Village continue to perform Weton calculations based on certain motives and objectives, namely as a prenventive action and as a means of obtaining happiness in the household.
