Abstract

A covid-19 pandemic causes the obstructed pace of various sector arrangements in Indonesia, one of which is the educational field. Online distance learning by utilizing the use of new media becomes an alternative solution for this condition. Students' learning commitments will be the stimulus for the success of learning implementation. However, the sudden change of learning concepts causes its own problems. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) received more than 800 complaints regarding the process of distance learning. This study aims to find out the influence of new media on learning commitment when distance learning during pandemic Covid-19 in Seyegan 1 Junior High School. This study used a quantitative method. The data collection used questionnaires distributed to 66 8th-grade students in Seyegan 1 Junior High School. Based on the results of a simple linear regression test, it is obtained that the use of new media has an influence of 43.6% on the learning commitment while the 56.4% is caused by other factors. It is also obtained the significance value of 0.000 < 0.050. Thus, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted
