Abstract

On December 30, 2020, the Ministerial Joint Decree (SKB) appeared regarding the disbandment of FPI. Reporting from okezone.com Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD explained that since June 21, 2019, FPI has still carried out activities that violate security and are against the law, because these mass organizations no longer have legal standing. Joint Decree Number 220/4780 of 2020, Number M.HH/14.HH05.05 of 2020, Number 690 of 2020, Number 264 of 2020, Number KB/3/XII of 2020, and Number 320 of 2020 concerning Prohibition of Activities Use of Symbols and Attributes and Termination of FPI Activities. The research was conducted using a framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki, as well as using a descriptive qualitative approach. The object used in this research is the news on the dissolution of FPI which was carried out by six ministers and state officials through the SKB. The research subjects used were 10 news articles consisting of 5 Kompas.com news and 5 Republika.co.id news in the January 2021 edition. The results of this study indicate that Kompas.com provides a frame that highlights the good image of FPI because it is considered a victim of government policies. Meanwhile, Republika.co.id highlighted the frame on FPI's bad image because of violations that had been committed during the organization's existence which caused the government to firmly disband FPI through a Ministerial Decree.
