Abstract

Social media is one of the pre-facilities for conveying messages that have the power to influence the speed at which people get information. Social media has many important elements as a means of conveying information that can persuade supporters such as the content of the message. In this modern era, the fanaticism aimed at football fans is not only shown on the field, but also through social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Supporters can show their existence in supporting by making statuses and posting anything that associated with their proud team. Football fans usually also carry out provocations against the opposing team by using social media. Apart from words, many of the uploaded pictures or other contents contain provocative elements. This study was conducted to determine the effect and suggest the effect of tweetwar on the aggressive behavior of the supporters of the Indonesian Football Association of Mataram (PSIM) Yogyakarta. This study uses quantitative methods, then the sample of this research was taken through random sampling technique. Based on simple linear regression analysis, it is known that there is an effect and magnitude of the effect of tweetwar on the aggressive behavior of the supporters of the Indonesian Football Association Mataram (PSIM) Yogyakarta by 23.8%, while tweetwar on aggressive behavior is 76.2%, influenced by other variables not mentioned in th this research. In addition, obtained a significance value of 0.000 <0.05 so the decision is Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
