Abstract

The aims of this study is: (1) to develop a smartphone-based teaching material with metacognitive strategies for facilitate reflective thinking and problem solving skills of students on wave topic, (2) to know the quality of the smartphone-based teaching material with metacognitive strategies for facilitate reflective thinking and problem solving skills of students on wave topic, and (3) to know teacher and students response to the smartphone-based teaching material with metacognitive strategies that have been developed.. This study is a research and development (RnD) with the ADDIE development model which consists of Analysis, Define, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. This research is limited to the implementation stage, which is a broad trial. The research instrument used in this study among others validation sheets, evaluation sheets, teacher and students response questionnarires. The teaching material quality assessment in this study uses likert scale with 4 rating scales. While teacher and students response questionnaires used the guttman scale with 2 scales, namely in the form of statements ‘agree’ and ‘disagree’. Assessment of the quality of the teaching material and response questionnaires are presented in the form of a checklist. The results of this study is: (1) it has been developed a smartphone-based teaching material with metacognitive strategies for facilitate reflective thinking and problem solving skills of students on wave material, (2) the quality of the teaching materials that have been developed according to material experts and media experts is excellent with an overall average score is 3,49 and 3,86, and (3) the response of the teacher and students to the developed teaching material is agree. The overall score in the teacher’s response is 0,98; while the students’s response in the limited trial is 0,99 and in the broad trial is 0,98.
