Abstract

Since Islam entered and was recognized as a religion in the kingdom of Bone, then it happened0the interaction between local culture and Islamic law in the pangadēreng system. In Bugis culture, Islam was then institutionalized and became a social force. The appreciation for Bugis community is determined by his ability and willingness to maintain siri’. This concept then combines all the main elements of pangadēreng who puts self-respect and shame above all else. This study aims to examine the concept of siri’ that exist in the Bugis Bone community as a form of acculturation of Islamic law and local culture as well as reviewing reviews ‘urf to the concept of siri’ culture that exists in the Bugis Bone community. This research is a type of field research used analytic descriptive data analysis techniques. The approach used is the anthropological, historical and sociological approach. This data was collected by means of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation by conducting interviews with several informants selected through snowball sampling and purpose sampling. The focus of his research is the Bugis Bone community. The acculturation theory used is the theory of Koentjaraningrat and the theory of 'urf from Abdul Wahhab Khallaf as a knife of analysis. This study provides the results that (1) the intersection between Islam and Bugis culture that has existed before has undergone an acculturation process in terms of changing perspectives. This can be seen in the religious life of the Bugis community, which is known that the meaning and belief in Déwata Séuwaé then shifted and made Allah SWT and all his teachings a new belief. In addition to religious matters, the integration of the concept of siri' which then gave birth to a distinctive cultural identity for the Bugis Bone community which can be seen in the massompe' tradition. (2) the fulfillment of the conditions of 'urf makes siri' can be categorized as 'urf sahih. This can be seen from the implementation of siri', both siri' in the sense of shame, siri' in the sense of self-respect, and siri' as motivation in religious and social life.
