Abstract

This article is about a hermeneurical model applled by feminist in interpreting the Qur'an. The need to such kind of interpretation is triggered by an awareness of the Qur'an and women rights as well as the Qur'anic hermeneutics and gender equality. Initiated by Rifa'ah Thhtawi, Muhamad Abduh, and Qasim Amin, in 1930, al-fahir al-Haddad ( 1899- 1956) said that it was for the first rime the discussion of historical relativity of certain issues in the Qur'an, especially the ones related to women rights. The next developments are the emergence of some figures, such as Amina 'lifadud and Asma Balras, who accentuate feminist hermeneutics to develop their ideas on women liberation from Islamic prespective.
