Abstract

Indonesia is a country that often experiences disasters. Disasters in Indonesia are very verse, one of which is the threat of volcanoes. Children are valuable victims of disasters. Theesome disaster mitigation is very important to be taught to children from an early age. However, in PAUD there is still a short age of media used to teach children about volcano disaster mitigation. Therefore, researcher took the initiative to provide solutions to help teach children about volcano disaster mitigation in early childhood through the Big Book learning media. The type of research conducted is descriptive quantitative with research and development methods (Research and Development or commonly called R&D). Data collection was obtained from observations by looking at the availability of media that discussed volcano disaster mitigation for early childhood. Literature study by looking at various information related to volcanic disasters through various media. Validation was carried out by media experts and material experts using an assessment questionnaire sheet. This research only reached the level 1 testing stage, name by creating new products and conducting media validation by experts. The results of this study: (1) get the procedure for making Big Book media; and (2) validation from media experts and material experts on the eligibility of Big Book media to get a 100% eligibility score in the "Very Good" eligibility category and on the results of the material experts' assessment, the product got a 100% score in the "Very Good" media feasibility category.
