Abstract

This research is motivated by a social phenomenon which is marked by the increasing cases of juvenile delinquency which are currently rife, such as the rampant fights between students and the decline in student morale. The existence of this phenomenon requires the need for intensity and quality of implementation of strengthening character education within the scope of formal education. SMK Negeri 2 Depok Yogyakarta is one of the schools that runs a movement program to strengthen character education through habituation in everyday life. Based on the results of the evaluation at the end of 2022 the level of student violations at SMK Negeri 2 Depok Yogyakarta which is often found is usually related to student delays, bullying, violation of rules, untidy dressing and skipping school. The condition of juvenile delinquency like this is very worrying and it is necessary to strengthen character education in schools. The purpose of this study was to determine the strengthening of character education through school culture-based habituation activities at SMK Negeri 2 Depok Yogyakarta. This study uses a type of qualitative research with a case study approach. The data sources used are primary and secondary data. Collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects were school principals, deputy heads of curriculum, deputy heads of student affairs and students of grades X, XI, XII. Data analysis by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate: (1) The application of strengthening character education is carried out through religious culture, 5S culture (smile, greet, greet, polite, polite), disciplinary culture and work culture. (2) The impact of strengthening character education through school culture-based habituation activities has a good impact on the religion of students, the character of students and the discipline of students
