Abstract

Cases of sexual violence are cases that should be of concern. According to data collection conducted by FSGI in 2023, 18.2% were committed by owners or leaders of Islamic boarding schools who are leaders of Islamic educational institutions. One of them is sexual violence against 41 female students in NTB. The case was reported by several Indonesian online news media such as Republika.co.id and Kompas.com. This research aims to find the framing done by the two online news media. This research uses the content analysis method with a qualitative approach. This research uses the framing analysis model of Zhongdang Pan and Kosiscki. The research was conducted by examining the text structure in the news such as syntax, script, thematic and rhetorical structures. The results showed that Republika.co.id and Kompas.com have differences in framing the news, especially in the syntactic structure of the news text. The social construction built by the two news media also causes differences in the way people respond to cases of sexual violence. This difference is influenced by various factors, one of which is the ideological factor adopted by the two online news media. There are differences from the results of the analysis conducted on the two news media both in syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical elements
