Abstract

A student is synonymous with her simple characteristics in living life. The assumption that female students are old-school, ancient and outdated today can be refuted because of the development of the times that have changed. It is none other than because the world of fashion has penetrated among students now. Some of the students are now Instagram users and are used as a form of expressing all the things that they want to be contained in digital media. Instagram has a considerable impact on female students at the Al Munawwir Krapyak Islamic Boarding School Yogyakarta in terms of the use of hijab style. So this makes the question for some parties why the appearance of fashion and the use of the hijab style of female students when in the scope of the cottage looks simple but when outside the female students look more stylish and fashionable? Therefore, in obtaining the answer to this question, the research is prepared using a descriptive qualitative method with case study research where the research technique produces descriptive data in the form of a series of data that explains a phenomenon. This research does not prioritize the size of the population but emphasizes the problem into the quality it has. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation and by using the uses and effect theory expressed by Sven Windahl. So it can be concluded that the results of this study reinforce the argument that the amount of time spent using social media is how often students use Instagram. Also, this finding reinforces the argument that the type of media content is the amount of information or things that female students search for in using Instagram. And the answer was obtained that the relationship between students and the content of the media consumed led to a transformation in the use of hijab style as a result or impact of the use of Instagram social media.
