Abstract

The research is motivated by the rampant cases of sexual violence against women. One of the psychological impacts that victims of sexual violence will experience is post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Victims of sexual violence have the potential to experience high levels of stress as a results of the traumatic experiences experienced. So it important that there are stress coping strategies in victims, one of which is emotional focused coping which includes various thoughts and actions taken by victims during the emergence of feelings of stress. The purpose of this study was to determine the aspects of emotional focused coping stress to overcome post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in victims of sexual violence at BPRSW Yogyakarta. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research are 3 adolescent girls, and the object of this research are aspects of emotional focused coping to overcome post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in victims of sexual violance at BPRSW Yogyakarta. Data collection techniques in this study using structures interview and documentation. The techniques in a analyzing this research data are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that the aspect of emotional focused coping to overcome post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in victims of sexual violence at BPRSW Yogyakarta are aspects of self controlling, distancing, escape avoidance, accepting responsibility,and positive reappraisal.
