Abstract

Viewed as a form of economic activity that has great potential to improve the community's economy, home industry should begin to pay attention to its existence and maximize it. Home Industry Carica "GRS" is a home industry that plays a role in empowering the community's economy. The aim of this research is to determine the role of home industry in empowering the community's economy and to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors that arise in economic empowerment through home industry. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, and uses interview, observation and documentation techniques to collect research data. Based on the research results, several roles were found for the Carica "GRS" home industry in empowering the community's economy, namely utilizing natural resources (SDA), developing human resources (SDM), alternatives for increasing community income and opening up employment opportunities. Meanwhile, the supporting factors for the "GRS" home industry are the availability of natural resources (SDA), the availability of human resources (SDM), sufficient infrastructure, partnerships and networks as well as innovation and technology. The inhibiting factors themselves are finances and bad weather. So after analysis, it is known that the Carica home industry "GRS" plays quite a role in empowering the community's economy. This is known through the basic theory that researchers use. With the success of empowerment through home industry, people will experience prosperity and live a decent, safe and peaceful life. Although this research also found obstacles experienced, they could be covered by existing supporting factors and would not have a big impact if handled appropriately.
