Abstract

The material object of this research is Arabic literature, and formal object is the study in the postmodernism era by philosophy of science perspective. This research is qualitative research by applying qualitative method and inductive analysis. Results of this research are, first, the importance of two studies in this postmodernism era correlating with study in Arabic literature, namely the study of feminism literary criticism and the study of postcolonial criticism on Arabic literature. The importance of two kinds of the literary criticism because of these two critics contained the plurality including 'incommensurability' and 'the other'. These two concepts, immediately, can let the Arabic literature return to its normative function for giving the values as a part of knowledge for human being, especially, in more egalitarian gender issues and correlation between west and east. Second, this research has shown the multidisciplinary, that the study of symbolism in the literary theory contributing the quranic exegesis study to obtain and improve further understanding of holy quran and quran as the text like a literature. In addition, this multidisciplinary has shown that the study of theory in literature is enlarged by studying the history of philosophy schools in the west correlating with the theory of expressive, theory of sociology, and theory of aesthetic response in literature.
