abstract: The research is aimed to further study of citation analysis of thesis performed by
students of the Faculty of Economics and Business majoring in Management in
the year of 2010. The purpose of the study is to (1) determine the type of literature
mostly cited for bachelor thesis of management students of FEB UGM in 2010,
(2) to further reveal the language widely cited in the textbooks and, (3) figure out
the textbooks cited at the Library Faculty of Economics and Business. The
research is a descriptive study with the focus on citations in the bibliography. Data
collection uses the citation analysis methods. Data analysis is based on the
percentage shown in the table. The results has shown that ten types of literature
are utilized as a reference in the preparation of bachelor thesis writing. Journals
are ranked as the first to cite 174 (42.96%), followed by 168 textbook citations
(41.48%), internet sources 33 citations (8.14%), thesis 11 citations (2.71%),
bachelor thesis 7 citation ( 1.72%), paper citations (0.98%), government decrees 3
citations (0.74%), 2 newspaper citations (0.49%), reports 2 citations (0.49% ), and
1 dissertation citations (0.24%). Literature cited is in English which is ranked first
the citation number 281 (69.38%). The second is in Indonesian language the
citation number 123 (30,37%) and 1 in Spanish (0,25%). Whereas the availability
of literature citation is 267 (65.93%), and 138 citations (34.07%) are not available
in the library of the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM. Journal is a type of
literature widely cited. Library FEB UGM has its collection of 140 (34.57%),
followed by 168 book citations (41,48%), paper 11 (2.71%). Recommendation:
Procurement collection of journals and collections of English language needs to
be improved, as well as the procurement of collection should still pay attention to
the needs of users.
