%T KUALITAS HIDUP PADA PASIEN EPILEPSI
(Studi Kasus Pasien Epilepsi Dewasa Awal di Yogyakarta)
%X The research aims to determine the quality of life of patients with epilepsy
in early adulthood in Yogyakarta. This research focused to find out the quality of
life of patients after a diagnosis of epilepsy, the factors that affect their quality of
life after diagnosis of epilepsy, and the process of achieving their quality of life in
early adulthood. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. The
data collection method used observation and interview techniques as the primary
data, as well as documentation in the form of medical examination results, photos
and diary entry as the supporting data. This research was conducted on two
epilepsy patients in their early adulthood in Yogyakarta. The results showed that
the quality of life after a diagnosis of epilepsy on both informants has change, this
is due to the diagnosis of epilepsy that changes the informant life and requires
them to adapt to the changes in their lives. Quality of life of the informants is
affected by several factors such as family, economy, employment, anxiety, and
stigmatization. In this research, anxiety is the factor with strongest influence on
the quality of life of both informants. Life changing processes on the both
informants are related to their quality of life i.e. adaptation, self-acceptance,
socio-emotional, relationship with the opposite sex, career development and hope.
