KEMAMPUAN PENELUSURAN INFORMASI SISWA KELAS X
DAN XI DI PERPUSTAKAAN MAN YOGYAKARTA III
%X This research is aimed (1) to understand about perception of students class
X and XI towards user education process in MAN Yogyakarta III Library; (2) to
understand about information retrieval capabilities students class X and XI in
MAN Yogyakarta III Library; (3) to understand about impact of user education
towards information retrieval capabilities students class X and XI in MAN
Yogyakarta III Library. This kind of research is a survey research done with the
quantitative approach. The population of the research are 405 of students class X
and XI in MAN Yogyakarta III with the sample 80 students.Taking of sample is
done by using proportionate Statified Random Sampling. The main data are
collected by distributing quetionnaire which applies likert scale of five alternative
answer. Meanwhile, the supporting data are collected from the interview and
documentation. For the calibration and reliability validity, it uses correlation of
product moment as well as alpha cronbach. Data analysis uses corelation of
product moment and coefficient of determination. This research resulted in three
conclusions: (1) perception of students about the user education in MAN
Yogyakarta III is 3.80 categorized as good for the correlation interval 3.40 <x ≤
4.20; (2) information retrieval capabilities students class X and XI in MAN
Yogyakarta III Library for 3.93 including both categories with a correlation
interval 3.40 <x ≤ 4.20; (3) there is influence between user education towards
information retrieval capabilities students class X and XI in MAN Yogyakarta III
Library uses product moment correlation with results of 0.629 with a strong
influence. While the value of r count (0.629)> r table (0.220) and the influence of
user education towards information retrieval capabilies students class X and XI in
the Library MAN Yogyakarta III is 3.95% which is characterized by the
coefficient of determination of 0.395. Researcher suggest that librarians improve
mentoring and guidance to students while user education and need to be increased
again providing guidance to students on how to search the information using the
CD-ROM.
