N2  - PT. Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit IV Cilacap is a mining and
exploration company under the State Owned Enterprises (BUMN), which is one
of the seven ranks in this country, which has the largest production capacity,
which is 348,000 barrels / day, and complete facilities. The refinery is a strategic
value because supply 34 % of the fuel (fuel oil) or 60 % of national fuel needs in
Java. In addition, this oil refinery is the only refinery in the country today are
producing bitumen and base oil for infrastructure needs in the homeland.
Public Relations has a very signifikan role in company or instituation.
Seen a very prominent role in crisis management. Crisis management is not a new
thing in the field of Public Relations. Crisis often occur that happened. As
Happened in the case of oil Tank the burning incident in 2011.
This research discusses the role of Public Relations in crisis management
of PT. Pertamina (Persero) Refinery Unit IV in Cilacap handle oil tank the
burning incident in 2011. The role of Public Relations in Crisis management is the
first theory that researchers use to discuss this research. The second theory is
Crisis Management. The third theory is Strategic Management.
This research resulted in findings that the role of Public Relations in crisis
management dealing with oil tank the burning incident in 2011 that convey a
message to the citizen, the media, and also to external public, explaining cause
and effect of the crisis and what has been done to address it. This research resulted
too in expected to contribute to the development and deepening of science
communication, especially regarding the role of Public Relations in crisis
management and post-crisis recovery in an enterprise.
