abstract: This research has stated two main problems that are how was the teachers’
contribution on the increasing of students’ reading motivation at SMP 3 Bantul
and how was the condition of the increasing of students’ reading motivation at
SMP 3 Bantul. This research was intended to know the influence of the teachers’
contribution on the increasing of students’ reading motivation at SMP 3 Bantul
and to know the condition of the increasing of students’ reading motivation at
SMP 3 Bantul. This research was sampling research and had 82 respondents. To
get a complete data, the researcher used collecting data method, so the data were
gathered from questionnaire, interview, and documentation. The result of the
research on the influence of the teachers’ contribution on the increasing of
students’ reading motivation was using product moment correlation, meanwhile
the teachers’ contribution and the students’ reading motivation was using its mean
or average. The result of the score indicates that there is a significant influence
between the teachers’ contribution and the students’ reading motivation at SMP 3
Bantul. The data analysis shows that coefficient of the teachers’ contribution and
the students’ reading motivation or rxy was 0,872; r calculation was bigger than r
table in the significance of 5%. And based on the results, that the average of the
teachers’ contribution was 38,22 and the average of the students’ reading
motivation was 37,68, it could be concluded that the teachers’ contribution and
the students’ reading motivation were in the level of sufficient. Then, it is
suggested to the teachers to always support and activate students to read books in
the library, so they will love reading every day in order to improve their
knowledge and get a lot of information.
