N2  - This research is aimed to examine the correlation between emotional
intelligence and altruism behavior. The proposed hypothesis on this research is
the presence of positive correlation between emotional intelligence and altruism
behavior. Research samples are generated from 143 (one hundred and fourty one)
student in Pakem Islamic High School Sleman Yogyakarta. Instruments of data
collection used in this research are the scale of Altruism Behavior and the scale of
Emotional Intelligence.
Technique of data analysis used in this research is product moment from
Pearson that is conducted by using computer program of SPSS (Statistical
Package for Social Science). The result of statistic shows the value of r =-0,614
and the value of p = 0,000 (p < 0,001). Meaning that there is positive correlation
that is forceful and very significant between Emotional Intelligence and Altruism
Behavior on student of the Pakem Islamic High School Sleman Yogyakarta, and
therefore the proposed hypothesis is acceptable. The contribution variable of
Emotional Intelligence towards variable of Altruism Behavior in this research is
shown by the coefficient of determinant (r2) value of 0,377. Emotional Intelligence
contributes effectively of 37,7% towards Altruism Behavior, while the rest of
62,3% are contributed by other factors.
