abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between run a
solemn prayer with optimism of santri. Subjects were used is santri of Dormitory
Al-Hikmah, Foundation Boarding School of Wahid Hasyim Yogyakarta with 64
peoples of santri. The ability to run a solemn prayer was measured using the scale
of prayed solemnly, while the optimism santri were measured using a scale of
optimism.
This study used the theory optimism by Tracy (2007) with optimism
aspect consists of thinking about the future, thinking about goals, thinking about
perfection, thinking about a solution, think about the outcome, think about
growth, think and to act. Then ability to run a solemn prayer used theory of prayer
fervently by al-Ghazali (1999) which consists of the presence of heart,
understanding, exaltation, and hope.
This study used quantitative research method with Spearman rho analysis
to determine the correlation between ability to run a solemn prayer to the
optimism of santri. The results calculation of statistical shows the value of the
correlation coefficient of 0.154 with a significance level 0.223 (p> 0.01). These
results prove that there is no significant relationship between the ability to run a
solemn prayer to the optimism of santri, so that the hypothesis is rejected.
