abstract: In this research, there are three problems, they are: First, how are the effect of
parents motivation for children’s reading interest. Second, how are the parents
motivation. And thirth, how are the children’s reading interest. This research aims to
explain the effect of parents motivation for children’s reading interest, to describe the
parents motivation for children’s reading interest, and to describe the level of
children’s reading interest at SD N Wiyoro Bantul. This research is a population
research, and the population are 59 respondents, The writing use the mean and the
grand mean. To measure the effect of parents motivation for children’s reading
interest, using the product moment correlation formula. The result of parents
motivation and reading interest of this research are included in the medium category.
While the effect of parents motivation for children’s reading interest at significant
level of 5 % with N = 59 are 0.252. Thus, the count of r are bigger than r of table
(0.679 > 0.252). It shows that the correlation coefficient between the parents
motivation with children’s reading interest there is a correlation. And the effect of
parents motivation for children’s reading interest are 0.679, and it included at the
0.600 to 0.799 category. Between X and Y variables, there is a correlation. This
research is expected to provide feedback to parents to always oblige their children to
read books every day, and for the teachers this research is expected to require their
students to visit the library for read books in order to increase reading interest.
