abstract: The purpose of this research is to understand individual prosses in young adulthood to be Maiyah Community in reaching meaningfulness of life. This research uses the method of qualitative- phenomenology which focuses on the experiences of subjective individual. Generally, the results of this study showed that the two informants who joined Jamaah Maiyah, Yogyakarta were able to pursue their meaning of life at early of adulthood stage. The process of pursuing the meaning was started by suffered stage, changing attitudes, finding aim of life, and living at a meaningful life. The meaningfulness of the first informant was relied on his mother’s message to be ‘sholeh’ (righteous) in which he learnt as a guide in his way of life. Meanwhile, the second informant, decision of marrying was a starting point bringing on optimism in his life. Maiyah activities that the two informants joined in was to be stimulants supporting the way of life they both had endured, especially for the two informants who made it as life-principle to discover something important. It was a value which was felt truly needed to do namely to run life and with any challenges would face by optimistic view.
