abstract: The study is titled "TWITTER AS ALTERNATIVE MEDIA of PUBLIC
INFORMATION (Content Analysis On Twitter @humaskabklaten Government
Klaten Period from January 1 until February 28 2014). The purpose of this study
is to analyze and determine the content of a message on twitter @humaskabklaten
Klaten regency government as public information. This prompted the Government
also use twitter as an alternative media to obtain information for people. By using
the twitter account, the Government will easily convey information such as
socialization programs and policies, development success and other achievements
in a particular agency. One of the Government's use of social media twitter as an
alternative media to obtain information for the public is the Government of
Klaten.
For the literature review the authors first discuss the mass media ranging
from understanding to kind of - kind of mass media, the second element of
communication, will be discussed in depth in the message, the third will discuss
the new media, social media last on twitter.
In the research methodology, the method used is content analysis with a
quantitative approach. The data used is documentation tweet from 1 January
2014 to 28 February 2014 at the timeline @humaskabklaten many as 93 tweets.
Then the data will be inserted into the coding sheet by the coder. This study uses
three units of analysis: the nature of the message, the visual news and feedback
forms with categories in it.
The results showed that the first unit of analysis is the nature of the message
contained information messages 75%, 18% persuasive message, 7% coercive
messages. In the second analysis unit is the visual word form of writing there are
78.5%, 0% in the form of images, 21.5% of writing and drawing. As for the third
unit of analysis is the feedback contained 67.7% and 32.3% responded not be
addressed.
