abstract: 
This research aims to know the effectiveness of self-confidence training to lower anxiety ahead of the match on a teenage badminton athletes in Yogyakarta. The hypothesis put forward is there is a difference of anxiety ahead of the match between the Group's experiments with the control group. The subject in this study was the athlete badminton aged 13-17 years old and has a score of anxiety ahead of the match from moderate to high. The measurement is done using a scale of anxiety ahead of the matches was compiled based on the theory of Adisasmito (2007). The research method used was the model experiments with Randomized Two Group With Posttest Only Design. Data analysis using non-parametric Mann-Whitney U techniques, the retrieved value of Z = -1.341 with p = 0.180 (p>0.05). The results of this research show that there is no difference between a group posttest score experiments with score posttest control group. Thus the hypothesis in this study was rejected, thus training the confidence has not been quite effective in lowering anxiety ahead of a match in badminton athletes teenagers.
