Library of the Faculty of Economics Indonesia Islamic University.
This research is aimed to understand the level of information literacy skills
in utilizing information user in the Library of the Faculty of Economics Indonesia
Islamic University using standard Association of College and Research Libraries
(ACRL). This research is descriptive quantitative research , the subject of this
research are the visitors in the library of the Faculty of Economics Indonesia
Islamic University and the object of research is the level of information literacy
skills. Methods of data collection by using the method of observation,
questionnaires, and documentation. The population in this research were all
undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics library member Indonesia
Islamic University who is active college status by the number of 5764 with a
sample of 98 respondents . Sampling with incidental sampling method. Analysis
of the data use the formula Mean. Based on analysis from five sub variable,
results the highest is the skill to accesses needed information effectively and efficiently
classified in the high category with a total average of 3,1. Second skill to
understands many of the economic, legal, and social issues surrounding the use of
information and accesses and uses information ethically and legally classified in the
high category with a total average of 2,82. Third skill determines the nature and
extent of the information needed classified in the high category with a total average
of 2,8. Fourth skill evaluates information and its sources critically and incorporates
selected information into his or her knowledge base and value system classified in the
high category with a total average of 2,79, and the least skill to use and
communicate information effectively to accomplish a specific goal also has to be
said though still higher category should be increased again to an average total of
2, 69. From the research , the researcher propose for holding user education by
incorporating information literacy skills training in it , so that the visitors can
further improve and master the information literacy skills to be better again.
