%X This research tends to know the news constructed by online media, there are Republika.co.id and
Tempo.co. The news is about ISIS were beheading James Foley. ISIS actually began appearing
in June, but the release of the video beheading of US journalist (USA), James Foley by ISIS
titled "A Message To America" makes ISIS become increasingly popular due to the world's
attention. Participate plunging the US in the fight against ISIS also be the main attraction will be
the extent to which the hunt for terrorists who have encouraged the US since the WTC tragedy.
This study aims to determine framing Tempo.co and Republika.co.id that construct about this
violence cases during the month of August.
Based on these facts, this study will use a framing analysis method of reporting cases of
violence committed against James Foley by ISIS . Data are based on the text of news about ISIS
violence to James Foley period 20 to 29 August 2014. The analytical method used is the analysis
of the framing of William A. Gamson and Andre Modigliani.
The Result show that construction of Republika more vocal in building construction on ISIS as
James Foley’s Killer, terorist and must be fought. In other side, the construction of Tempo.co in
the same case although construct ISIS as James Foley’s Killer but also consider the US partly
responsible due to its offensive against the territory ISIS. But in describing their sympathetic to
Foley both of them almost have the same construction even though Tempo is more focused on it
than Republika
