The purpose of this research was to investigate the implementation of activities in the promotion of reading interest in Tumbuh 3 Primary School Yogyakarta and to determine the factors supporting and inhibiting factors fostering interest in reading at Tumbuh 3 Primary School Yogyakarta Library. This type of research is qualitative research writer. The method used for data collection are observation, interviews, and documentation. Development activities carried interest reading at the Tumbuh 3 Primary School Yogyakarta Library is the guidance of reading, reward, reading after school, wall magazine, story telling, book reviews, and literacy classes. Factors supporting the background for reading interest of students in the elementary Tumbuh 3 Primary School Yogyakarta Library consist of internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include the need to read, their knowledge of the progress of his own progress, and their aspirations or ideals. External factors include the presence of reward, punishment, and the rivalry or competition. While the limiting factor of the development of reading interest of students in Tumbuh 3 Primary School Yogyakarta Library consist of internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include the lack of awareness of the student, the library space was cramped and stuffy, and the lack of library management. External factors include the lack of cooperation with various parties such as parents, publishers and writers, as well as the lack of cooperation among libraries in fostering interest in reading.} }
