The kind of this research is quasi experiment with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The variable of this research consist of independent variable called metacognition based learning and dependent variable called critical thinking skill and interest in learning physics. Population in this research is 11st natural science grade of State Senior High School 5 Yogyakarta academic year 2014/2015. Sample’s taking in this research has done with purposive sampling technique, so that it’s selected natural science 6 on 11st grade as control class and natural science 5 on 11st grade as experiment class. The technique that being used is instrument of test called pretest matter and posttest matter and instrument of questionnaire called questionnaire sheet of interest in learning physics. Technique of analizing data using descriptive statistic and N-Gain formula. The result of this research is (1) There is difference of data descriptive between the class is given metacognition based learning and expository learning. The class is given metacognition based learning have average of critical thinking skill score 50,31 and the class is given expository learning have 41,11. The class is given metacognition based learning have average of interest in learning physics score 85,5 and the class is given expository learning have 72,59 (2) Experiment class more effective toward critical thinking skill having N-Gain 0,32 (medium) whereas control class having N-Gain 0,01 (low) (3) Experiment class having NGain 0,14 (low) more effective toward interest in learning physics of students by enhancement medium category (Effect Size 0,52). %K Keyword: Metacognition Based Learning, Critical Thinking Skill, Interest in Learning Physics. %D 2015 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib16316
