abstract: This study aims to determine the user’s perception of OPAC as a tool of
information searching at the Library of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta. The
type of this research is quantitative descriptive. The subjects of this study are
users in Library of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta, while the object of this
research is user’s perception of OPAC as a tool of information searching. The
researcher used questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation as
the data collection method. Population of the research is students in grade VII and
VIII at the library is 252 users. By those amounts of population, the research used
Yamane formula and found 84 user as the sample in the research. In taking
sample, the researcher used incidental sampling method. This research has single
variable that is user’s perception of OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) as a
tool of information searching at Library of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta.
The results showed that OPAC in Library of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta
is good. It can be seen from the total average of variable that is equal to 3,20.
