abstract: This research discussed about relation between taman bacaan masyarakat
(TBM) cakruk pintar and children’s reading interest of Nologaten RT 04 RW 01
Caturtunggal, Sleman, Yogyakarta. The purpose of this research are (1) to
described TBM Cakruk Pintar existence in Nologaten RT 04 RW 01
Caturtunggal, (2) to find out children’s reading interest, and (3) to find out that
there’s a relation between existence of TBM Cakruk Pintar and children’s reading
interest of Nologaten RT 04 RW 01Desa Caturtunggal. The kind of this research
is quantitative. Collecting datas’ methodes are used nonparticipant observation
and closed questionnaire. Sample taken use an accidental sampling. As many 82
children, took as sample. The data analysis used product moment formula, and to
calculate the average each variables are used mean and grand mean formula. The
datas processed by SPSS version 16. Result of this research is showed that there’s
a relation between existence of TBM Cakruk Pintar and children’s reading
interest. It’s proved by correlation value amount 0,234 with 5 % significant
degree, and r table is 0,220. TBM Cakruk Pintar existence is include on the very
high category. It can prove by amount grand mean value 3,277. Whereas
children’s reading interest of Nologaten’s include in the very high category,
proved by amount of grand mean 3,26. Correlation coefficient value is positive, it
means that the higher existence of TBM the higher children’s reading interest of
Nologaten’s. Then, researcher’s advices are TBM should add some kind of books
where it can fullfil children’s information needed and TBM should be able to
create some activity which make so many children want to read so much.
