%X This research aimed to understand about how effect of user education  towards information retrieval capabilities by university student faculty of law  generation 2014 in Library Faculty of Law Indonesia Islamic University  Yogyakarta. This kinds of research is a survey research done with the quantitative  approach. The population of the research are 561 of university student generation  2014 Faculty of Law Indonesia Islamic University Yogyakarta with the sample 85  university student. Taking of sample is done by using Insidental Sampling. The  main data are collected by distributing quetionnaire which applies likert scale of  four alternative answer. Meanwhile, the supporting data are collected from the  interview, observation and documentation. For the calibration and reliability  validity, it uses correlation of product moment as well as alpha cronbach. Data  analysis uses correlation of product moment and coefficient of determination.  This research resulted conclutions is: There is influence betwen user education  towards information retrieval capabilities by university student generation 2014  faculty of law in Library Faculty of Law Indonesia Islamic University Yogyakarta  uses product moment correlation with results of 0,678 with a strong influence.  While the value of r count (0,678) r table (0,213) and the influence of user  education towards information retrieval capabilities by university student  generation 2014 faculty of law in Library Faculty of Law Indonesia Islamic  University Yogyakarta is 46% which is characterized by the coefficient of  determination of 0,460. Researcher suggest that Library Faculty of Law Indonesia  Islamic University to improve activity of user education to gave new university  student every new year learned.
